Mosaic Foster Care Agency Testimonials

Who Can Foster A Child? What you need to know…

No two foster children are the same – and the same goes for foster parents. We welcome people from all walks of life. A variety of backgrounds, life experiences, and qualities are essential to meet the needs of children who require a safe, nurturing home.

You can apply to become a foster parent if you:

✔️Are at least 21 years old (Our foster parents range from their mid-20s to early 60s, and we assess older candidates to ensure they can meet the demands of fostering.)

✔️ Have the legal right to live and work in the UK.

✔️ Can provide full-time care and meet the needs of a child.

✔️ Have a safe, secure home with a spare bedroom for a child or young person.

Even if you’re a smoker, you can still apply if your home is a smoke-free zone.

If you’re unsure about meeting every criteria, don’t count yourself out! At Mosaic, we look beyond checklists to see how your unique strengths could help transform a child’s life.

Wondering if fostering is right for you?
Here’s what we look for

You’ll be willing to grow and learn

You don’t need formal qualifications to foster with us. What matters is your openness to learning and your commitment to providing a safe, nurturing home. Our comprehensive training equips you with the skills you need to feel confident every step of the way.

You’ll be empathetic and patient

Fostering can be challenging, but it’s also deeply rewarding. Mosaic looks for individuals who can empathise with a child or young person’s experiences, show patience through difficult moments, and build a relationship based on trust and care.

You’ll be adaptable and resilient

Life isn’t always predictable, and fostering requires flexibility and resilience. If you can adapt to challenges and remain focused on helping a child thrive, you’ll make an excellent foster parent. Our support is here whenever you need it.

Common Misconceptions About Fostering Rules

Think You’re Automatically Disqualified? Think Again!

Some people believe they don’t qualify to foster for reasons that simply aren’t true. Here are the facts:

✔️ Religion: Your faith doesn’t affect your ability to foster. We only ask that you be open to supporting a child’s beliefs and discussing alternative views.

✔️ Citizenship: You don’t need to be a British citizen. Full-time UK residency is enough.

✔️ Criminal Record: Only convictions involving children or sexual offences prevent fostering. Other records are reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

✔️ Illness or Disability: Fostering regulations don’t exclude applicants based on medical conditions. Your ability to care for a child is what matters most.

If you’re unsure, talk to us - many people find their perceived barriers aren’t barriers at all.

Practical Concerns About Fostering That Won’t Hold You Back

Can I foster if I rent my home?

Yes, whether you rent or own, as long as you have a stable home and a spare bedroom, you can foster.

Can I foster if I’ve never had children?

Absolutely. Many foster parents have no prior parenting experience. Your ability to learn and provide a nurturing environment is what counts.

Can I foster if I don’t drive?

While driving is helpful for school runs and appointments, it’s not a requirement as long as you can manage transportation needs.

Can I foster if I’ve had financial difficulties?

Past financial struggles don’t automatically disqualify you. Fostering allowances can support your ability to care for a child.

How to choose the right fostering agency

Why Foster With Mosaic Foster Care?

Fostering Worcestershire

With so many fostering agencies to choose from, it’s important to find one that aligns with your values - one that will support you properly, not just at the start, but all the way through.

At Mosaic, we specialise in long-term therapeutic fostering. From the first conversation, our focus is on building strong, lasting relationships that help children heal, grow and thrive.

What sets us apart is our in-house therapeutic team, ready to offer support within hours, not months. Expert help is always just a call away.

Foster parents with Mosaic are treated as professionals and receive a minimum of £600–£700+ per week, with up to three weeks of paid supportive care  (sometimes known as respite). You can explore how fostering pay works here.

Our results speak for themselves. 92% of the children we support stay in a single long-term home throughout the year, far above the national average. That’s thanks to careful matching, a realistic view of the challenges and the training and support needed, plus a team that never leaves you to cope alone. From day one, you can expect honest conversations with people who know fostering first-hand and will guide you through the process.

Mosaic is proudly rated Outstanding by Ofsted, and we continue to lead the way in placing people before process. You can read more about who we are and how we work on our About Us page. If you want to foster with an agency that gives you the tools, support and long-term commitment you need to succeed - we’re here for you.
